Wu Wei

One of the most fundamental concepts in Taoism is Wu Wei. Which basically means ‘Effortless Action.’

In lay man’s terms, Wu Wei advocates against forcing our will in situations and instead aligning to the natural flow of the Universe. So basically Wu Wei is about constantly being in awareness of the natural flow and taking action that aligns with this flow.

Today’s world is riddled by the hustle culture which can have a toxic effect on people. Incorporating the concept of Wu Wei in our active lives can lead to a more balanced, fulfilling, successful lives.

When you let go of the need to control and only take action when necessary instead of pushing yourself with excessive effort and tension, you are practicing Wu Wei.

When you are in a state of flow and infusion; and you are enveloped in a sense of oneness with whatever you are working on, that’s Wu Wei.

Be mindful of all that is going on around you; the feeling of the sun on your skin, rustling leaves, birds chirping, children playing; be mindful of all of that and embrace the moment.

When things go wrong as sometimes they might, allow yourself some grace and remind yourself you cannot control everything, instead of torturing yourself trying to fight and force an outcome.
Allow things to unfold and in their own natural way and flow with whatever comes your way.
